Mary – Mother of the Church

Her youthful and virginal appearance reflects her special calling as the Mother of Jesus and as the Mother of the Church. On the plinth are the Book of Life and a representation of the Church. These symbols illustrate her role as the ‘Mother of the Church’: Mary accompanies the faithful on their journey of faith and leads them to Christ, the source of life.
